I don’t want this to be a keyboard warrior type post where insults are tossed around. So this isn’t a Bryant Reeves bashing story folks!
Think back the the roster of our beloved Vancouver NBA team. The name that often comes up is Bryant Reeves. In hindsight, this franchise signing turned into a big ‘ol disappointment for the fans.
I’ve been at the Vancouver Grizzlies games over their time in Vancouver. Without question, watching the lumbering style of Bryant Reeves was entertaining. You could pick him out, isolate him on the NBA court and be entertained thoroughly. It’s just the way it was. He was more entertaining to watch than most players on the NBA court.
The most disappointing part of Bryant Reeves though, was his re-signing. This, as it turned out, was the worst decision that the Vancouver Grizzlies could ever make. It was two-fold. First he took the money and got fat in the off season. Secondly, he was injured and could not even continue his playing career. It was an all around bust.
I say thanks for the memories Mr. Big Country while you were here in Vancouver on our NBA team. Our roster wasn’t complete unless you were in the game. It’s sad though that the big pay day seemed to take away the drive. Or possibly it was just the bad back that kept Big Country from maintaining a healthy and professional weight? All I know is that the greasy fried chicken jokes never got old.
